COMMUNICATION BOARD PROGRAM
AAC BOARDS IN COMMUNITY SPACES
Communication boards are vital tools in inclusive spaces. For non-speaking or minimally verbal athletes, families, or visitors, AAC boards provide a way to express needs, emotions, wishes, and enthusiasm.
Communication boards placed in locations where individuals with disabilities frequent can help them and their communication partners relate to and enjoy the space more effectively, whether at a local park, school playground, baseball field, or community event.
See Me Neurodiverse is committing to donating at least one communication board to a local park or community space each year. Each year, we will review nominations from the community and work with the appropriate city or school to order and install the communication board. Complete the nomination form below to submit your recommendations.
In the program's first year, See Me Neurodiverse donated a baseball communication board to the P.L.A.Y. Miracle League field in Prior Lake. At a baseball game, such a board can mean the difference between frustration and participation, between feeling isolated and fully part of the team and community. Mounted at the field, this board will allow instant access, ease, and visibility, helping build connections among all players and spectators.
