With spring break vacations coming up, we know that traveling with neurodivergent kids takes extra preparation. Here are some tips from our community to help make trips smoother:

✈️ Plan Ahead: Check passports, confirm medications, and call the hotel for any accommodations. You can request TSA Cares assistance to get extra support navigating airport security. If you’re flying out of MSP, consider attending the free Navigating MSP program to help prepare for the airport experience.
🎒 Pack Smart: Bring medications, comfort items, new toys/fidgets, and anything that helps with transitions. Keeping familiar snacks, noise-canceling headphones, or favorite activities handy can make all the difference.
🛫 Use Available Supports: The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program offers lanyards you can pick up at the airport help desk. It’s a subtle way to let airport staff know that a little extra time and patience may be helpful.
🌟 Keep Expectations Low & Enjoy the Little Things: Travel can be unpredictable, and that’s okay! Allow for breaks, embrace the small moments of joy, and give yourself permission to take things at your own pace.
We hope you have a wonderful spring break and look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon!
