Equity is NOT Optional

On June 9, a few of our incredible See Me board members showed up to advocate for what should be a basic expectation in every school: equity and inclusion for ALL students and staff.

Instead, we watched in disbelief as the majority of the Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools board (with the exception of two beautiful humans on the board) voted to eliminate the district’s Equity & Inclusion Resolution.
Let’s be clear: equity and inclusion are not “extras.”
They are not performative words on a piece of paper.
They are a daily commitment to creating schools where ALL students—neurodivergent, disabled, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and every other marginalized identity—feel safe, valued, and seen.
Removing this resolution sends a chilling message: that some students matter less. That some families do not belong. That protecting the well-being of every child is up for debate.
We say NO to that message. Loudly.
Because this fight is about real kids, real teachers, and real families, including the See Me community, that are directly impacted by these decisions.
Equity and inclusion save lives. They foster belonging. They are the foundation of strong, thriving schools and communities.
We are deeply disheartened by the PLSAS School Board's vote. But we are not defeated. This is not over. We will not stop fighting. We will not back down.
See Me families, we see you. We stand with you. We will continue this fight together.
