Calm Room at PLAY Cheer Competition a Hit

See Me was excited to work with Prior Lake Cheerleading to offer a Calm Room at their Santa’s Cheer Shop event on December 2nd at the Prior Lake High School.

If you’ve ever been to a cheer competition or any all-day event, it can be loud, overstimulating, and overwhelming, whether you’re neurodiverse or neurotypical.

We offered this calm room as a place where people can escape the hustle and bustle and recharge. It was a hit! We had families with small kids, cheerleaders, and adults coming to take a break from the action. We also had a booth and had fun talking with families and young cheerleaders about what neurodiversity means. We’re looking forward to next year and promoting this even more. Hopefully, a calm room will catch on and we can offer it at other events.

A big thank you to Prior Lake Cheerleading for working with us on this idea, Prior Lake High School for allowing us to use one of their rooms, and to the volunteers who helped supervise the room! WE SEE YOU!
